Maroc Loto Review

The National Lottery in Morocco also referred to as La Loterie Nationale in French was established in 1971 and mandated to regulate the lottery games in the country including distributing prize funds to winners. Ever since, the company has expanded to include lottery games such as Quarto, Trio, Keno, Joker, and Lotto. A big percentage of the proceeds from these games has been used to support charitable courses and development initiatives in the field of education, culture, sports, and art.

Maroc Loto Overview

The Maroc Loto game is a number game in the format 6/49 that gives players 5 ways to win prizes two times a week, on Wednesdays, and Saturdays. Players select 6 main numbers from a list of 49 numbers per panel and thereafter select a bonus number. For them to win the jackpot, which is the top prize, they are required to match the 6 numbers drawn. The prize pool depends entirely on the number of winners and the participation in the Loto. The beauty with Maroc Loto as well as the other games offered by the National Lottery is that all prizes are paid as a tax free lump sum.

How to Play Maroc Loto

The first step in playing Maroc Loto is to locate a retailer. There are a number of retailers designated by the National Lottery in Morocco from where you can play the Loto. When you get to the retailer, you will be given a playslip that has 10 grids and each grid, there is 49 numbers.

You may decide to play by manually picking the numbers or through Quick Pick. In Maroc Loto, the Quick Pick box is labelled FLASH. Once you mark this box, the machine at the retailer terminal will generate the numbers randomly for you depending on the number of grids you want to play. It is possible that on a single playslip, you combine both FLASH playing and manual picking. It all depends on your preferences.

When marking the numbers, use either a blue or black pen, but do not use a red pen. This is purely a regulation and using red ink will render your slip void. In case you make an error in a particular grid and you want to cancel it out, use the ERROR box instead of erasing or drawing lines across the grid.

In addition, the playslip gives you the opportunity to mark the number of advance draws you want to be entered for. This is particularly important if you are either traveling or you won’t be around a retail location to buy your ticket and yet you want to feature in the draw. You can subscribe from 2 to 10 consecutive draws.

Playing the Joker

The Joker or bonus number is generated by the terminal and printed on your ticket. This number forms part of the draw and works just like the other numbers you have chosen. It is used to determine your winnings in the different categories.

Your Maroc Loto Ticket

Once you hand over the playslip to the retailer, it will be validated and you will be given a receipt or the ticket which constitutes your participation in the game. The receipt has the Maroc Loto logo, which signifies that indeed it is the game you have chosen as well as the serial number of your ticket. All tickets are unique and the serial number identifies your ticket.

The numbers you have chosen will also appear on the ticket together with the date of purchase and the date for the draw. In the event you enter for a number of advance draws, they will also be indicated on the ticket. When you receive the ticket, and confirm that the details are correct, sign it at the back and keep it well without folding or crumpling it. It is the only proof of your participation and will be required for you to be paid in case you win.

Maroc Loto Rules

The drawings for Maroc Loto are held on Wednesdays and Saturdays. If you want to be entered for the Wednesday draw, you should buy your tickets well in advance because ticket sales for the Wednesday draw close at 8 p.m. on Wednesday. Any ticket bought after 8 p.m. will be considered for the next draw which takes place on Saturdays.

The draw is done at 9 p.m., broadcasted live on TV and witnessed by a government official for transparency purposes. The draw machine used is completely unbiased and it pops the balls at random from the 1st to the 6th and then the bonus ball.

Maroc Loto Prize Breakdown

Once the balls have been drawn, it is now up to you to find out what the winning numbers are vis-à-vis your ticket.

  • If you match the 6 numbers, you win the jackpot. Depending on the number of people who win the jackpot, it will be distributed equally amongst them. The jackpot also has a roll over component, meaning if it is not won, the amount increases in the next draw.

  • The third category requires that you match 5 out of the 6 drawn numbers and you win 6,480 Dirhams.

Claiming Your Prizes

Once you find out that the draw has been conducted, it is your responsibility to confirm the winning status of your ticket. You can do this at your nearest retail point or visit the official website of Maroc Loto and confirm the numbers. If indeed you are a winner, you have up to 180 days to collect your winnings. Failure to do so will lock you out and you won’t be entitled to your winnings any longer.
