All’s Fair in Love and Lottery – The Portrait of an Average Lottery Player (For that sudden itch!)

An Average Lottery Player – How It All Begins

Many average lottery players think that playing the lottery is the most practical (seriously?) way to accumulate several hundreds of thousands of dollars. And all these years I was thinking working hard pays off… hmp. As bizarre as it may sound, a few years ago around 21% of American adults actually agreed that the lottery was the most practical way of banking large amounts of money. Wonder if they know anything about Poker though… Have you ever wondered why 21% of American adults think lotteries are the only way to massive amounts of cash (that doesn’t even last for five years… but that’s another story!)?

That’s because a majority of people is plagued by high and rising amounts of debt. Apart from that, the current unemployment rate is around 8%, which mean for every 100 people, 8 people can be seen challenging skills at local bars with lottery tickets worth $5 in their pockets! Those who aren’t affected by debt or unemployment are crushed by inflation hitting food costs and sky-high gas prices. Sell off your car because you can’t stop eating! No wonder people think the lottery is their only chance of a happy survival.

How It All Unfolds For an Average Lottery Player

Continuing from where we ended, although most people think lotteries are their way out of the miseries they are, well, wrong. Getting rich from a lottery is quite unlikely and statistically impossible. Unless you have the lady luck as your partner in winning the lottery, your chances of winning a Mega Millions jackpot is 1 in 175,711,536! That means an average lottery player has to buy more than 175,000,000 tickets! If an average lottery player buys one ticket per week, he would mathematically have to play for 175 million weeks in order to bring home a fortune. In other words, average lottery players also have to be immortals so they can play every week for approximately 4 million years. No shinola! For an average lottery player that’s not really a problem. “I buy 20 tickets every week,” Well, good for you I say; now you only have to play for around 150,000 years!

What Happens After an Average Lottery Player Becomes a Millionaire

Funny you should ask! I came across a friend who said that after winning the lottery, he bought his homeless brother a new house. It was the box from his new 65-inch TV! Before all, if the wife or husband isn’t a fat old ogre they get to enjoy the benefits of their spouse’s newfound lottery pride. I’m talking about average lottery players here, no offense intended!

If the couple is happy with each other (rarely the case!), the first on the list is a 5,000 acre house for a family of 4, then, despite the high gas prices, several thousands of dollars’ worth car, a bit of philanthropy (though lottery players hate being asked for money) a boob job for the loving wife (if she’s not a fat old ogre), an expensive trip to exotic places, designer clothes for the entire family, together with their infant child, more expensive trips, gadgets and other luxury stuff and finally some dough to buy more lottery tickets. The cycle goes on and on and in a span of 5 years, after purchasing 2 or 3 houses (large enough to accommodate an entire village each), a few cars (one for each family member – maybe a designer pram for the infant) and frequent trips to postcard places, the millionaire becomes an average lottery player – dry and penniless.

From Millionaire to an Average Lottery Player

It takes many years to become a millionaire, but only a few to lose it all. For an average lottery player winning a lottery is a huge deal. With so many dreams to accomplish, they manage to spend everything in less than 5 years. Before becoming a millionaire, most average lottery players dream about condos, Bentleys, exotic vacations, investments, basically everything an average person “doesn’t” really need. When they hit the jackpot, they start by saying, “I’m going to make sure I don’t repeat the same mistake as others… this money will last my family even after I die…”. But there’s something really mysterious about the big fat check… the moment they get one, the thought of the money lasting for a lifetime flies out of the window straight into the head of another average lottery player! While one ends up spending everything in less than 5 years the other is quoted saying the same thing before receiving the check!
