Say on Monday you received 6 customers of which only 2 gave you a tip of $20. On Tuesday you served 10 of which just 4 gave you a tip of $5 and by the end of the month your tip collection was $70. This is just an assumption, yes? Apart from the tip of $70 you also receive a salary of say $400. So at the end of that particular month you gain $470. But the month before, you just gained $420.

The point is those tips are like playing lotto and your salary is your regular job. You can never tell exactly how much you will make if you just rely on playing lotto for a living. Yes, you can be playing lotto as a pastime, for some extra cash and all, but not really for a living. It’s as simple as the restaurant example I gave you above.
