ShaBam Review

ShaBam is a lotto game offered by Atlantic Lottery Corporation Inc. (ALC) and played daily. It features two ways in which you can win prizes at a cost of $1 per play. When you purchase a ShaBam ticket, you can either win instantly or on the daily draw portion.

How to Play ShaBam?

It is much simpler playing ShaBam at the official Atlantic Corporation Inc. website, ALC.ca. All you need to do is to sign in to the website and head to the Draw menu and click on ShaBam. A play area will then come up.

From the dropdown, select the number of ShaBam purchases you need. Every dollar of play qualifies you for an instant win right at the time of purchase as well as a nightly draw. If you want to be entered for future draws, you can purchase advanced plays from the dropdown menu. You can choose anything from 2 to 10 consecutive draws. If you want to add a TAG to your winning ticket, you should give the clerk an additional dollar for each ticket purchased. Each ticket allows you to play TAG up to a maximum of 2 times.

The moment you confirm your purchase, there is a pop up that will appear which will inform you whether you have won instantly or not. In the event you have won an instant prize, the pop up will carry the words “You Just Won $ xxx ShaBam! Find out more”. When you click on the hyperlinked Find Our More, you will be taken to a page which will have your transaction details and will give you specified information on your win. In the event you do not win, the pop up will carry the words “Sorry, You did not win instantly on ShaBam. Good Luck on the Draw!”

Your bet is only considered official when it appears on your Transaction Detail window as completed. Some players prefer printing out their wagers from the Transaction Detail window, but it is not a must you do so. This is because ALC checks your numbers for you unlike other lotteries. If you are a winner of either the instant prize or of the nightly draw, you will be notified by email as well as messages on your ALC.ca account.

Issuance of Tickets

In order to participate in ShaBam, you must request an Instapik where numbers are generated randomly for you. Note that ShaBam is not available anywhere else apart from ALC.ca. The ShaBam ticket issued will indicate the draw date and in the event of an advance play, it will show the dates for the respective draws you have been entered for. It will also show the selections you have made per play, the control numbers, and other information.

Draws for ShaBam are held approximately at 11.30 p.m. Atlantic Time. During the draw, ALC randomly draws 5 numbers from a pool of 38.

The Odds of Winning ShaBam

As said earlier, there are two main ways you can win on a ShaBam ticket. The first is the instant win and the second is the nightly draw.

Instant Win

The top instant win prize is $20 and the probability is 1:4,000; the second is $10 with a probability of 1:666.7; the third is $5 with a probability of 1:100 and the fourth is $1 with a probability of 1:16.7. All the instant wins are randomly generated hence there is no predetermined ticket number that wins.

Nightly Draw

Apart from the instant win, there is the draw which has heftier prizes. The first prize level is $15,000 and goes to the player who matches 5 out of the 5 drawn numbers. The probability of winning this prize is 1:501,942.

The second prize level is for a 4 out of 5 match of drawn numbers and the prize amount is $1,000. The odds per dollar of play for this prize category are 1:3,042.1.

The third prize amount of $5 requires you to match 3 out of the 5 drawn numbers. The odds here are 1:95.1.

The fourth and last prize of a dollar is for the player who matches 2 out of the 5 drawn numbers. The winning odds at this prize category are 1:9.2.

The overall odds of winning any prize in the draw game are 1:8.4 while the chance of winning any prize at the instant game is 1:13.9.

For every draw, ALC has the sole right of limiting the total amount payable in prizes to $100,000 for the top prize level. If this limit is reached or even exceeded, the prizes payable will be calculated by dividing the total prize amount by the number of winners in the particular category. For instance, if the winners are 10, ALC may decide to pay $100,000 divide by 10 where each player gets $10,000. The overall odds of winning any prize in ShaBam are 1:5.5.
