Vermont Lottery Review

Thirty-six years have passed since the Vermont Lottery held its first drawing, and the fact that the games are still running and the lottery has expanded beyond borders in the form of the multistate compact is a quiet statement of its success. VT Lotto is also part of the Tri-state lottery, and in conjunction with New Hampshire and Maine, it runs two immensely popular games. Much to his credit, Vermont Lottery found a way to preserve its identity over all these years and still features some of its original games.

Multi-Jurisdictional Draw Games

Vermont Lottery joined the MUSL, which enabled it to sell both Mega Millions and Powerball tickets, and both games have plenty of fans within state borders. Vermont Mega Millions ran uninterrupted since 2010, but the rules were changed in October 2013, with now players choosing 5/75 white balls and one of the 15 mega balls. The jackpot has also been increased from a guaranteed amount of $12 million to $15 million, providing an additional incentive for lottery players who hope to win a considerable amount.

Vermont Powerball was the first to be introduced by VT Lottery in 2003, 11 years after the game was created, and it holds draws every Wednesday and Saturday. The jackpot starts at $40 million, and nowadays, the price of a ticket is two dollars instead of the regular one dollar, with the change being implemented at the beginning of 2012.

Vermont Lucky for Life is also a game that spans beyond the state borders, and it is the result of six state lotteries teaming up. It expanded in March 2012, and just as the name suggests, it will award a lucky winner an amount of $1000 per day for the rest of his life while the runner-up will cash in a $25,000 per year. Recent changes made it possible for winners to claim the lump payment instead of the annuity if they choose to do so.

Local Vermont State Lottery Games

Vermont Pick 3 and Pick 4 fall into the category of Tri-State Lottery Commission draw games, and each of them has 14 drawings scheduled each week. Unlike other states that have a single drawing scheduled for Sunday, Vermont Lottery makes no exceptions, which means that players have two more chances to win each week. They can do so by matching the three digits of Pick 3 lottery or Vermont Pick 4, with the size of the payout depending on whether they chose the straight, box, or/straight box wagers.

Tri-State Megabucks Plus is a revamped version of the original Megabucks lottery, which was abolished in July 2009 and featured a guaranteed jackpot of $1 million. One ticket costs two dollars, and drawings take place on Wednesday and Saturday with players trying to make 5/41 balls plus the special number extracted from a six numbers pool.

Vermont Gimme5 is the latest addition to the VA lottery, and it was introduced in May 2013, featuring a jackpot worth $100,000. Three drawings are scheduled for Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
