How to protect yourself from lottery scammers

Have you ever received an email saying “congratulations, you are our lucky winner in this (whatever name they choose to use this time) lottery!”? Well, don’t start regretting yet if you are the type who does not check your Inbox from time to time. Even if you are the type who does, do not rush to click the shiny “click here for more information” button.

You might ask why? Here is the reason why, you might want to read this nice and slowly and let it sink in.

“You, yes you are being ripped off or are in the process of being ripped off”. You might not want to believe it but you better start believing because this could save you the heartache of seeing your hard earned money burn. You probably have some questions right now; don’t worry, that’s the reason this article was written

What are you talking about?

Well, what a nice way to start a conversation! As I said before, you are being scammed. The people sending you the email are part and parcel of the evil works of a single person or a syndicate who want to have it easy. What they have just done is hook you in and if you are blind, you will go all the way to having a negative sum in your bank account or if they are blue collar, you will be set back a few thousand pounds.

How did they get my contact?

With the advancement of the good side of technology, there is always someone out there who is up to no good. Names and addresses are harvested by computer generated programs called spyware or viruses.

Anywhere your name and address appears on the Internet for example subscribed services, social networking sites or if you are an Internet hater, they simply go to the national directory and if your name appears there, then Bingo! They have got you.

So, what they do is to send them lots and lots of people. Few like you will be hooked and once they establish contact, you are on your way to the milk shed.

Show me proof

You want proof; well I will produce it off your words. If you are a reasonable and sane human being, how can you expect to win a lottery you did not participate? Did you also verify if the lottery is legal?

There, don’t say a word and please, be your brother’s keeper spread the word around as this could save another person.
